Khaled Hanafi and the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Khalil Hajj Tawfiq discuss preparations for the "Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference"

The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, met at the Union's headquarters in Beirut with the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, during which they discussed the ongoing preparations for the 20th Conference of Arab Businessmen and Investors in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during the period 18-19 October 2023, jointly organized by the Union of Arab Chambers, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the League of Arab States, and under the high patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Jordan's Hashemite Summit, and prominent official participation from Jordan and Arab countries, in addition to the ministries and competent official authorities in the host country, Arab countries, chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture in the Arab world, joint Arab-foreign chambers, Arab and foreign business owners and investors, in addition to banks and financial institutions.

The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce noted the importance of the Arab Business Owners and Investors Conference, which will focus on identifying the investment climate and environment, policies, incentives, and modern legislation in Jordan and the Arab countries to attract investments."

He considered that "what we are witnessing today of the digital revolution has created new economies and set new rules for markets, which requires all Arab countries, especially the Arab private sector, to rehabilitate its structure and take the reins of non-traditional initiatives, as it owns transit boats to accommodate this pivotal development," stressing "the importance of building on successful existing experiences to overcome new challenges with the exacerbation of inequality, and transforming Arab countries from consumer societies to productive societies, which will create abundant new and creative opportunities for businessmen of the New generation."

He considered that "this event, which will include a group of senior businessmen and economic thinkers in the Arab countries, undoubtedly has a role in crystallizing visions, ideas and projects that serve our goals and orientations in supporting and strengthening trade and economic relations between Arab countries, and creating an economic trade bloc among them, a goal and demand that has become more urgent than ever."

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Union welcomed at the beginning of the meeting the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Khalil Hajj Tawfiq, praising the role he has played since assuming the presidency of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, in order to enhance the role of the Jordanian private sector, considering that "The Jordan Chamber of Commerce is one of the chambers that have a prominent and distinctive role within the Union of Arab Chambers, as it is considered one of the influential chambers within the Board of Directors of the Union, and is always keen to work with all Arab parties in order to enhance Arab economic integration efforts. In addition, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce is an active player in Jordan and has an active role in participating with public sector institutions in formulating policies related to trade and services sectors, including information and communication technology and participating in the development of strategies and plans necessary for their implementation. It is also a contributor to the development and promotion of trade and services, including for SMEs."

The Secretary-General noted that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted the 20th session of the Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, considering that "the conference constitutes an important platform for enhancing the reality of inter-Arab investments, in addition to attracting foreign investments, as Jordan and the Arab countries have important elements to attract huge investment projects in various sectors, whether in the technological sectors, or in the energy, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism sector and other sectors." Vital Strategy".

Hanafi pointed out that "the next stage of economic cooperation between Arab countries must go beyond the concept of traditional trade and investment exchange, until it reaches the stage of strategic alliance, through the real preparation for the establishment of the customs union and the unification of standards for goods and services, which will increase the competitiveness of Arab countries and economic superiority."
